Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has put pen to paper and signed a new five-year deal with the club.
The 23-year-old has been in form this season and his form has been rewarded with a new five-year contract.
Shaw has been one of United’s best players this season and has won the club’s best Player of the Month for two consecutive months.
Shaw’s relationship with United boss Jose Mourinho had been frosty in previous years, as Mourinho has often criticised the 23-year-old. But Shaw has braced himself and has been a different player this season putting in performances that have earned him a recall to the national team.
After penning a new deal, Mourinho has now hailed the left-back and revealed that the young defender deserves his new contract.
“Luke fully deserves this contract,” Mourinho told United’s official website. “He understood his development process, he has worked really hard at every level and he always believes in himself which is a great attribute to have.
“Luke is still young and is improving all the time and he must feel very proud of himself.
“I am delighted that we are keeping such a talented young English player with a bright future ahead of him.”
