Manchester United will visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday as the Premier League resumes on this weekend with United and Chelsea set for a lunch-time kick-off on Saturday at the Bridge.
Fellaini has been an important player for Jose Mourinho this season and it seems the United boss will have to do without the big Belgian for this weekend’s clash.
United are sweating Fellaini’s unavailability ahead of Saturday’s clash after he limped out of a training session.
Fellaini had reported back from international duty with Belgium feeling ill, but insisted on taking part in Wednesday afternoon session to get ready for Chelsea clash.
Fellaini missed Belgium’s game against Holland on Tuesday because he wasn’t 100 per cent fit but Belgium boss Roberto Martinez expects him to be fine for the game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Martinez told Sky Sports: “He should be fine, it’s just he wasn’t 100 per cent.
“He’s got an important game at the weekend and this wasn’t the game to use players who weren’t 100 per cent.
“We expect he should be fine in the next couple of days.”
But now, Fellaini is expected to be unavailable for Saturday’s game after his training session on Wednesday afternoon ended prematurely, forcing him to hobble off the pitch with an ankle problem.
Fellaini has been a key player for Mourinho this season as he has started four of United’s last five games.
