Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammad bin Salman is reportedly interested in buying Manchester United from the Glazer family according to Daily Mail.
The 33-year-old is reportedly worth around £850billion and he currently holds the second highest position in the Saudi government behind the King.
Bin Salman might have to spend more than £3billion to acquire Manchester United from the Glazer family who have been owners of the club since 2005.
Bin Salman reportedly wants to take on the Abu Dhabi-based owners of Manchester City in the Premier League and he sees Manchester United as the perfect acquisition to make his mark in the football world.
Manchester United’s current share price values the club at more than £2.5billion, which is slightly down from the record high of £3.1billion recorded in August.
It isn’t known whether the Glazers will want to sell the club but United’s co-chairman Avram Glazer has been spending a lot of his time in the Middle East recently.
Bin Salman is Saudi Arabia’s First Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs and Minister of Defense.
