Despite not winning the Ballon d’Or during his playing days, former Manchester United striker Andy Cole believes former Manchester United winger David Beckham was every bit as good as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cole and Beckham were part of the legendary Manchester United side that won the treble back in 1999 under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Cole never played with Ronaldo as he left Manchester United for Blackburn in 2001, two years before Ronaldo joined the Red Devils from Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon.
Cole was asked by Manchester United’s official website to pick his dream Manchester United XI and he chose Beckham over Ronaldo.
Explaining why he chose Beckham over Ronaldo, Cole said: “Cristiano Ronaldo is awesome but Becks was just so good.”
Cole’s dream Manchester United XI also featured Manchester United greats like Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Peter Schmeichel, Gary Neville, Jaap Stam, Gary Pallister, Denis Irwin, Ryan Giggs, Eric Cantona and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Cole joined Manchester United from Newcastle United in 1995 and scored 93 league goals for Manchester United in 195 appearances before leaving for Blackburn Rovers in 2001.
