Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was in the stands during Serbia’s 2-0 UEFA Nations League victory over neighbours Montenegro on Thursday.
Various reports claim Mourinho was in the stands to watch Serbian and Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who was a transfer target for Manchester United during the summer.
If reports that Mourinho was in the stands to watch the Lazio star are true, then the 23-year-old midfielder must have pleased Mourinho with his performance after coming on for the last 10 minutes of the game to set up Aleksandar Mitrovic’s second goal with a backheel.
Milinkovic-Savic revealed after the game that he was pleased that a coach of Mourinho’s stature came to watch the match.
“I am a Lazio player but it is obvious that I was pleased that a coach of his stature came to watch the match,” Milinkovic-Savic said.
“I read a little bit everywhere he was here at the stadium to see me play, but that does not mean anything. Maybe he was not here for me, but for someone else.”
Milinkovic-Savic has five years left on his Lazio contract and was valued at £86.7million during the summer.
