Manchester United will travel to Stamford Bridge after the international break and we could make that trip without a key Manchester United midfielder.

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic is now a doubt for the big clash at Stamford Bridge after withdrawing from Serbia’s squad for their Nations League fixtures in Montenegro and Romania due to an unspecified injury.

It’s been confirmed Matic will leave the Serbian squad and return to the club to complete his rehabilitation.

This is the kind of news under-pressure Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho won’t like to hear a day after Luke Shaw pulled out of the England squad for their double header against Croatia and Spain due to injury.

Matic has been a key player for Manchester United since his move from Chelsea in the summer of 2017 and Mourinho will be hoping the midfielder recovers on time for the clash with Chelsea on October 20.

The 30-year-old has made eight appearances in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side this season.
